Style
I am a painter working primarily in oil and acrylic, drawing inspiration from the world around me through photography. My work leans toward impressionism, emphasizing movement, light and atmosphere rather than strict realism. Each painting begins with a photograph I have taken of an image that captures a fleeting moment, an interest composition or a striking interplay of color and form. I also have participated in a couple Plein Air workshops.
Through my art I seek to translate these captured moments into something more expressive, allowing texture and brushwork to convey emotion and depth. I am continually developing my style, exploring the balance between representation and abstraction while maintaining a strong connection to the original subject. My goal is to create paintings that invite the viewer to experience familiar scenes in a new evocative way.
Philosophy
I believe that art has the power to heal, inspire, and transform. My goal as an artist is to create work that not only looks beautiful, but also resonates with the viewer on a deeper level.
I am a life-long Indiana resident, graduating from Butler University with a BA in Journalism followed by a MA in Public Relations. Always interested in photography I started painting later in life for fun and to see if my photographs could be translated into paintings. I have been able to spend more time with my paint brush since retiring in 2025.
